MAKING OF THE PLATE:
The base plate is a cotton canvas pasted onto a moulded plate using tamarind paste. A mixture of chalk powder and multani mitti is applied, dried, and smoothened with stone for a polished canvas. To prevent insect damage we use crushed neem leaves. With multiple layers of coating, drying, and finishing, the complete plate-making process spans three full days.
NATURAL COLOURS: Soft Neel (Light Blue), made from indigo, forms the vast sky, while Hara Bhata (Light and Dark Green), ground from stone, shapes the trees. Ramraj (Yellow) adds warmth to the flowers, and white-grey clouds move gently across the scene. Each color undergoes a meticulous elaborate process of sourcing natural materials, cleaning, crushing, mixing with water and adding adhesives.

In the plate, The Krishna’s Mystic Serenade, Krishna descends seated upon the moon, radiant in his divine glory. Soft, smoke-like clouds swirl gently, leading your eyes to a magical scene as if the heavens themselves are unveiling his arrival. Nature, in all its splendour, rejoices at his coming...The mango trees burst into bloom, their sweet fragrance filling the air in celebration. Peacocks spread their dazzling feathers, dancing with joy, while lotuses awaken in the still waters, unfolding their petals like offerings at his feet. Every element of earth and sky comes alive, uniting in harmony to welcome the celestial God. As Krishna ascends gracefully to the earth, he fills it with beauty, music, and the promise of divine bliss.
